The vast majority of the billions of dollars allocated toward drug policy is directed toward the supply-side and law-enforcement sectors. Urgently needed is a radical re-allocation of resources towards tangible objectives of public health.

In the domain of public health, we must beware of complacency in the face of rising HIV figures and strenuously address the silent epidemic of Hepatitis C.  However, if society is serious about reducing recidivism we must focus on an almost entirely neglected challenge many drug users face: few or no teeth.
