The President of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), Dr Lochan Naidoo, became a member of IDHDP while attending CND 2015 in Vienna and calls his colleagues to assume a core role in drug policy, which should be considered a health issue.

A family practitioner in South Africa and expert in addiction medicine, Dr Naidoo participated in the Q&A section of our overdose side event and went on to provide an exclusive interview to IDHDP.

In this interview he talks, among many others, about the importance of guaranteeing access to essential medicines, putting the human being at the centre of drug policies and providing comprehensive drug treatment (including needle exchange programmes, Opioid Substitution Therapy and naloxone access) to drug users, when needed.
