3 Nov 2017 |

This joint RCGP and SMMGP conference is the largest event in the UK for GPs, shared care workers, drug users, nurses and other primary care staff, specialists, commissioners and researchers interested in, and involved with the management of drug users in primary care.

RCGPSMMPGconference

The conference will explore roles primary care can play in drug and alcohol services for example in the added value of being able to address coexisting health issues.

Drug users of all ages need good general healthcare and this year's conference will focus on how we can improve screening, assessment and treatment of mental health problems. Primary care is well placed to reduce stigma often associated with these problems.

Primary care can also deliver wider public health outcomes effectively (e.g smoking cessation / contraception /cervical smears/ Hep C diagnosis and treatment).
