The conference has been running for 16 years and is a unique learning experience for all healthcare professionals wishing to further their knowledge and skills in the field of opioid dependence.

15 May 2018 | Madrid, Spain

This year’s conference will explore urgent challenges faced by patients today – from psychiatric disorders to homelessness – and emphasise the importance of integrating care for co-occurring conditions. To accomplish this, we will address the latest innovations in treatment research and their potentially game-changing applications, while providing pragmatic advice and strategies for effecting change in the day-to-day clinic.

In light of a concerning rise in opioid overdoses, the IOTOD conference has collaborated with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) to introduce a session on the topic. Through plenary talks, the session aims to equip you with key tools for tackling opioid overdoses.

As with previous years, the well-received Integrated Psychosocial Interventions session will introduce new thought-provoking concepts, and the Hepatitis C session will invite you to help make HCV elimination a reality. Other highlights of this year’s programme include nuanced discussions on transitioning between treatments, upcoming treatment formulations, polydrug use and heroin-assisted treatment.

The 2018 IOTOD conference will feature the popular complex case study clinic, for which you are invited to share complex patient challenges to discuss with the expert panel and audience. As well as this, our traditional Commitments to Change will give you an opportunity to vote on which of the conference’s key learnings you will commit to taking forward into your own clinical practice.
